Comments: "Chuck, a fellow Marine, purchased the car from me as I left the military. He put his own 289 and 4 spd. in the car and junked the Fairlane he owned at the time. When he was released in Dec. 1971, he drove the car to Chicago, losing both mufflers on the way, where it was sideswiped by a city snowplow. Chuck wrote a letter describing the accident. It had a bench seat and therefore no console. The car was unique (I purchased it from the first owner in Fairfax, VA) in that it came with the Fairlane 500 body trim as a two door hardtop, but had the factory installed 4-spd. and the bench seat. BTW, having kept the 4-spd. all these years, I had it rebuilt and reconfigured to bolt into my 1964 Falcon 4 dr., 260-V8, that I currently own and drive."

Comments: "I bought this car from Ted Britt Ford in Chantilly, VA, in 2006. I have since modified it to include power windows, door locks, and trunk latch. I put in a keyless entry module. I changed the knobs to chrome billet. I put in reverse glow gauges, fog lamps and a spoiler. With the power upgrades I also installed new door panels with switches and pockets where the hand crank use to be. The power seat still binds up, but I understand this is common with the Mustang's power seat. I topped it off with a new metallic red paint job. The car has been giving me some trouble from the start. It will stall for no appearent reason. I put a cold air intake on the car just after getting it and I was wondering if that might be the reason. If the previous single owner of this car could let me know if that problem existed when he had it, I would appreciate it. It was owned by an ex-military member. Also, he was or is a police officer in the northern VA or Maryland area and purchased a new Mustang from Ted Britt Ford."

During this time I was seriously injured at work and fell behind on my storage rental. Without telling me, the storage lot auctioned it off and refused to tell me to whom. This car was my pride and joy. I had upgraded the engine to a 289 CID from the stock 260 CID. The body was "cherry" condition, white top and red leather interior. It still had the Muntz 4 track deck in place. All I have left is the plate number of JEA285 California. Times are much better now and I am prepared to offer an appreciable reward for its location."

Comments: "I invested five years of personal time, money and effort bringing this car back from the dead, and bringing it to life. I finally had its mechanical issues just about squared away and had prepped, primed and planned to paint. Like a fool, however, while it was off the road I neglected to keep the registration current, and one fateful day while driving to pick my mother up from work, a California Highway Patrol officer ran my plates. To make a long story short, they ended up taking my vehicle away, appraised it at a hefty $1,200 to get out of impound, which I had no dream of being able to pay, and auctioned it off. Anyhow, I still couldn't afford to buy it back from whoever ended up with it, but i do have a 100 percent knowledge of that car inside and out. I documented every bit of work myself or various shops have done to it. I also have a nice stack of lifetime warranties on some expensive parts saved thru the years that I'm sure the new owner would find priceless to have. Even if I can't have her, I want make sure she's being treated properly. Thanks."

The car had a 351C in it with a fold down back seat. I remember it was really fast. I was about 6 or 7 when he sold it and I am 30 now. Would love to find it."

He died in a wreck before I could drive. My loving mother sold both of them without telling me because it would have been just too hard to look at them. Unfortunatly, I do not know where to start. I have the VIN for the white one, but can't find any VIN for the red one. So, if anyone has had success in finding old cars, I would love to pick your brain. Thanks, Alan."

I am 30 now and have tried to forget about it and move on, but I am constantly searching the Internet for other '68s just like it or similar. I would absolutely love the opportunity to buy it back in the future, or I could just sleep better at night just to see it one more time and know it is still out there.

Please, if anyone out there knows where or who it was sold to, or knows someone who bought a '68 fastback in the Houston-area in mid-summer 1995, I would just love to hear about or see what has been done to the car.

Thank you and thanks for this web site. It is good to see that there are people out there that care as much as I do."

Although the car was a hi-performance 289 model, there was no engine or trans in the car when I bought it. When the car was sold, it contained a stout, rebuilt 1965 289 CID with some go-fast goodies and Top Loader 4-sp. I'd appreciate contact from the owners.

Comments: "I recently bought this car and am just curious to find out a little more history on it.

1967 Mustang coupe, originally Frost Turquoise, but was repainted more of a bright turquoise. Body is in extremely good shape for being in the Midwest and has just a few minor rust problems. Has an aqua interior that needs a fair amount of work.

I bought it from a dealership in Kansas City in November 2005 and was told it came from Hawaii. It appears to be a factory heater delete car (still had the original plugs in the firewall) so I'm willing to bet it probably spent a good chunk of its life there or southern California. According to receipts that were in the glove box and inspection stickers on the rear bumper, it looks like it just came to Kansas/Missouri from Hawaii sometime around 2004 - 2005.

I do know that it was owned by a Daniel Clemons and sold to Nancy Sherk of Ted A Rea, Inc. (luxury and import car dealer) of Leavenworth, KS, in August 2005.

So, if this was your car at one time, rest assured I am taking good care of it and will be fixing it up. And if you'd like contact me and share a little more of its history, I'd appreciate it. I'd also like to say thanks for taking good care of it and not letting it rust out in a barn somewhere.

UPDATE (Dec. 31, 2006): I recently decided to replace the engine with a rebuilt one. The engine that was in the car is actually a 302 with 289 heads which means that this is not the original engine. A previous owner must have replaced it at some point."

Comments: "Originally, this car had a 3-speed manual gearbox with a standard conventional 2.79:1 axle and standard black interior. I am the fifth owner here in Belgium. But the car's history in the U.S. is unknown to me. I would like to find out the names of those who owned this car and there whereabouts. The only thing I know is that the car had been restored in Huntington Beach, CA, from April-June 1996 by Nick Masters and Alex Tortes. Shortly after, the car was sold and exported to Belgium. In 1998, the car was restored in Belgium a second time and in winter of 2005 I restored the engine compartment completely. I would be very interested to know about this car's history because I've already found out everything about it's time here in Belgium. If possible, I would like to know who owned the car and how it was treated. I would be much obliged. Check out www.mustang1969.be to see what she has become. Regards, Patrick."

Comments: "This Mach 1 was ordered in November 1971 through Turner Motors located at 601 El Camino Real, San Bruno, California. It was picked up by the owner on the first week of Jan 72.

The car must have been a "customer ordered" vehicle judging by the options list. I'm looking for anyone who may have information as to the original owner of this Mach 1, possibly around the San Bruno or San Diego areas in 1972. The car then ended up in Phoenix, Arizona somewhere between 1972 to about 1983. It was eventually painted metallic dark blue around 1981 to 1983, before being sold to a gentleman in Canada. The original owner of this car may have travelled the highways with this car as it was geared with 3:25, and A/C with the tinted windows. Does this ring a bell with anyone? Please contact me."

Comments:"I have a ton of info on this car including pics when new. I purchased from local Ford dealer when I graduated from high school. Car had a custom paint job with about 12 different shades of blue. It also had a 460 with tunnel ram and 2x4s sticking through hood (this was done by kid who bought it, long story). This young kid had won a lawsuit and used part of money to purchase car from me and to modify it.

After the mods were done he was laying under car while it was up on bumper jack and it fell on him and killed him. His family, through a friend of mine, sold it to a party in Milwaukee area. I sold the car in about 1981-82. Some people could put it in doubt of being a Boss car because I installed a 429SCJ and had to remove the shock tower supports in order to get headers to fit. Was a non-factory tach car so had Sun Supertach on column; also had 4:30 Detroit Locker & original 4spd trans. The Lucas lights in grille would be a good giveaway; also had Cragar SS wheels.

I have a ton of info on this car should anyone out there currently own it. I also know where original engine is located in Phoenix AZ."

All rust-free - never saw a winter from 1983-1990. This was my high school car that I was forced to sell because of college debts. I will buy what's left - I've got the cash, so let's talk. I want to restore this car for my six-year-old daughter. The last time I saw the car a kid had put a Holley carb on and headers, and had painted the laser stripes white. He wouldn't sell it back. I sold it for $800 to a Buffalo Grove, IL police officer while I was working at Burger King. I think the last name of the officer was "Lambert." It was a silver (half primer) car. Fastback with a black interior. It had 1969 buckets in it and brown loop carpeting. Rusted to hell. I think it was a HiPo car and it had a 4-spd. I remember him showing me pics of it a year or so later under restoration. Old license plates were IW 8071 (Illinois)."

Editor's note: According to Torinocobra.com, "The Twister Special, sold only through the Kansas City Sales office, was a specialty model in 1970. Actual production was 90 Torinos Cobras and 96 Mustangs. All the Cobras were Vermillion (Calypso Coral). Mustangs were Grabber Orange. The Twister Specials were debuted November 7th, 1969 at the Kansas City Missouri District sale office's "Total Performance Day." All the Torino Cobra Twister Specials were 429's either CJ or SCJ (a topic of discussion since it was once believed that all were SCJs), came with dog dish hubcaps and trim rings, of which there were 60 automatics and 30 four-speed transmissions. The numbers for all the Twisters fall between 0A38J131596 and 0A38J134632, not consecutively."

Comments: "I'm trying to contact previous/original owners of this 1960 Ford. I'm also trying to locate the selling dealer. In 1998 I purchased it from a man in KY. He purchased it from a collector in OK. It was off the road from 1973 to 2001. I have found bits of paper that indicate that the car was last driven in the Sand Springs, OK area in 1971. It was possibly owned by a John Roe, a high school student. I've written letters to all of the people in the area with the last name of Roe. The only reply was from a family that recently moved to the area from Chicago. The OK DMV was no help. The car may have been damaged lightly in the front due to an accident. It may have been "parked" during the 1973 gas shortage. The collector that owned it may have refurbished it around 1984. Any information about the history will be greatly appreciated. In the time that I've owned it I have completely restored it. Due to the condition of the suspension components I believe the mileage to be in the low 80s."

Comments: "This was my first car and I loved it! Unfortunately, I also learned my first hard lesson about rebuilding engines on it. After replacing the cam, I neglected to spend the extra cash on new hoses. Yes, I know. Anyway, 2 a.m. on a November evening, driving west on M14 near Beck Rd., I noticed an orange glow coming from the hood lines. Not good. I stopped and got out just in time to watch it explode. Apparently the hoses burst, it overheated and the intense heat melted the fuel line and sprayed gas all over, BOOM. It was towed to a buddy's house on Beck Road and unfortunatley, soon after he became an ex-buddy. I have no idea what he did with the carcass. Is there a way to tell if a VIN has been scrapped? I would really love to help someone else in return. I currently own the very rough shell of 64 1/2 Mustang convertible, VIN number 5F08F208850."

Comments: "Well this is a VERY special car to me. I'd buy it today if it were found on an Alaskan mountain top.

This is a 1970 XL fastback. It's a very unusual tan color with a black hood and black mirrors. Ford built very few of these tu-tone cars. Since it's an XL, it has hidden headlights. The interior has biscuit colored high-back bucket seats. The car has (or had) a dent in the rear on the left side. I think that this car might actually still exist since a friend of mine sent me a picture of a car fitting the above description taken from an ad about 2 years ago. He thinks the ad was from Ohio, but can't be sure. While it's likely the car was junked years ago, I keep hoping that it's rotting away in some farmer's field or in a junkyard somewhere. I know that it has not been licensed in Illinois for at least the last 7 years. I wish I had more of a description, but I know I would know the car in an instant. Lastly, I have a great picture of this car which I would be more than happy to forward to anyone who wants it, plus let me give you a phone number of how to reach me: 815-455-9253. Needless to say I would go ANYWHERE for this car no matter where it could be and condition does not matter. I just want it back! Thanks!"

Comments: "Hi, my name is Scott Fouts and I'm from the Northwest, GA area. I'm 39 years old, and I have cystic fibrosis. This is a life threatening genetic disease and I have already outlived the doctor's expectations. Time is VERY valuable, as I don't know how much of it I have.

I am trying to locate the 1965 Ford Galaxie 500 XL that my Dad owned when I was a kid in the early '70s. You see, my Dad passed away 2 days before my birthday in Aug. 1997 and I would love to have this car back as a keepsake of something that was important to both of us.

It is the XL series and has the bucket seats and floor console with automatic transmission. It has a 390 ci. engine, and is a black on black 2 door hard top. The VIN # is 5N68Z124306 as taken from a Dealership repair invoice.

You know how the stories go: "Son, that will be your car someday when you're old enough to drive it". Needless to say, it was sold before I got my driver's license. The man who bought it from my Dad supposedly took it to Michigan to an automotive museum. I went to the Henry Ford Museum in Dearborn in May 1999, and it was not there. After 30 years, there's no telling where it could be.

I am offering a $250.00 REWARD if you are able to locate this car and put me in touch with the present owner. I would love to see this car once again.

You may contact me by mail at:
Scott Fouts
16 Ridgeway Circle
Ringgold, GA 30736

Or e-mail me at neverslowdown@aol.com to contact me on the computer.

I'm a member of the LOVEfords Club, Ford Galaxie Club of America, and also the Mustang Club of America.

BUT, MOST IMPORTANTLY... I trust God, and know him as my savior and I know where I'm going after this life is over. God has been SO good to me and I thank Him for each and every day that I get to spend on this earth. I love to share with others how He has blessed me - Scott."

Car was featured three times in Mustang Monthly, from 1981-1983. It was beautiful until I had to start using it daily as other car failed. I sold it in 1987 to get married and since my other Mach 1 was my first car I chose to keep that one. I would like to know it's in good hands and would like to keep in touch to share history and street legend stories. It was a real runner and made a believer out of the Bowtie boys. Short block was balanced and blueprinted and bored .030" by Buddy Crisco, who held an NHRA Modified Pro record at US Nationals. Only non-stock item was an 800 Holley double pumper carb."

I got it on the road in high school and sold it for book money in my last year of college. I stated the original color as light ivy metallic, but in high school I painted it root beer brown. The interior remained dark green. DMV ran the search for me. In 1987 it was salvaged which means somewhere in the Los Angeles area this car went to a yard and was picked over for parts. I will never get the car back, but I would love to put a part from it on the Torino I have now. I would love to think someone took it out of the yard and built it like I build my cars. The last time I saw the car it was on Vanowen Blvd. in Canoga Park, just past Desoto Ave. It had gold Trans Am birds on each rear quarter panel. The license plate was 099 TZO. It had hood locks and an alarm with the keyhole on the drivers side rear quarter."

Comments: "The way the car was specified and oredered make this a very rare car! Most Boss's had power steering, slats, spoilers, TracLoc 3.91 diffs, and close ratio trans. I ordered the car from Bronde's Ford in Toledo in March of '70, and took delivery the end of April. I contacted the dealership to obtain the VIN, but they had a huge fire and all records are lost. When I sold the car it had Hooker headers, Lakewood traction bars and scatter shield, Holley 850 double pumper, and Autometer tach. The engine had numerous mods including a Sig Erson cam. The engine was also painted Calypso Coral. Car was immaculate when sold in '71 with 6000 miles. I have contacted the person I sold the car to, and he sold it in '73, and does not remember to who, and he does not have VIN either. I paid $3800 for the car and sold it for $3000...today, primo Boss's are selling for $40,000!"

I kept in constant contact with him after leaving and never once mentioned in any way that I had any intentions of selling the car or doing anything other than coming and getting it. He never once mentioned to me that he had sold the car shortly after I left. I found out a few months later when I went to get the car and it was gone. I have the last legal registration for the car in my possession. There was no title as NY did not give a title for a car older than 1974. Any help finding this car would be greatly appreciated."

Car last seen: Traded in at a Ford dealership in Delaware in '71 or '72

Contact: woodstockwhites@aol.com

Comments: "Car was purchased in Delaware - don't know the VIN. It was early production, one of the first on the streets. It had a 3.25 rear. It was blue with white interior, 390 with auto. It had a chrome grill (not the normal black grill - this was added later but bought at dealership). Also had the rear spoiler (dealer installed). The hood scoop was functional and had the chrome engine dress-up kit. Some of the interior panels were painted black because white was too hard to keep clean. Also, the rear body panel was painted black like a Boss. I think the quarter scoops and head lamp pockets were blacked out. That's all I know about the car for I have never seen it - only been listening to stories for 25 years. Any info will help."
