The only change made to the car by me was changing the 3:23 gears to a 3:90 ratio. I used the car as a tow car for my 1967 Dodge R/T Super Stocker, and won more races with the Super Bee in pure stock, than in the 1967 super stocker. Comments: "I just purchased this car in June 2005 from Iowa and would like to find out its history. It was an Alabama car most of its life and has 70,000 original miles. I'd like to try and track down the owners of this car pre-1996, specifically because it's missing its fender tag and build sheet. I also know it was raced for most of its life and the original 440 engine was bored .60 over and the water neck was cracked along with some damage on the left side of the block. The original transmission housing was also cracked. Another thing that is unusual is that the partial VIN number stamped on the radiator support, #....G8W2I3525, doesn't match the VIN number, nor does it even make sense for a real VIN. The last private owner was Steve Dickerson who said it was never wrecked, which makes sense since the radiator support doesn't ever appear to have been replaced. One more weird thing about it is that the original air cleaner had holes cut around the outside of it to put metal screens in place. If anyone knows anything more about its previous owners or has any paperwork for my car, please contact me."

Comments: "I am going to turn 43 next month. I have been dreaming about getting this car back for 24 years. Or at least finding out what happened to my favorite car. When I sold this car, I was 19 and foolish and wasn't working. I took the Bee emblem off the grill and still have it. I also have the 1982 registration card and the 383 piepan. I have a few pictures of the car the day I bought it. I am hoping to buy it back and put the original Bee emblem and piepan on it. Even if this car is junked, wrecked, or rotting in the ground somewhere I would still love to get it back. If it was restored and the owner won't sell , I would still love to get some current photos of it to put with my display of my Superbee things. Or maybe give up the emblem and piepan so the current owner can put back on the original pieces. Whatever the condition my 'Bee is in, I need to know where or what happened to this car and would love to own it and drive it again. Please help me find my lost ride!"

UPDATE (August 7, 2006): In November 2005, I submitted info on my lost Superbee. About two weeks ago, in July 2006, I got an e-mail from the current owner. He was kind enough to send me pictures of the 'Bee and one of the fender tag to verify that it was indeed the car I had owned. It is restored beautifully. The Bee has a 440 in it now but he plans on putting the original 383 magnum back in. We have been sharing info by e-mail for about two weeks. I hope to see my dream car again in person and maybe even buy her back. If I do get her back I won't let her go this time. If I don't get her back I'm still happy to know that she's in good hands and will be taken care of. Thank you so so much for The Lost Car Registry. Without this site I doubt if I could have ever found out anything of her whereabouts. Sincerely, Perry C."

Update (June 2, 2005): "On May 2nd, I sent you an e-mail asking for your help to find a 1965 Dodge Coronet 500 that I bought new in Spokane, Wash, in 1965. You sent me back an e-mail with information about the guy I sold the car to in 1970 (Rob Conrad). I also had found out that Rob was in Birmingham, and had contacted him. He sold the car in 1984 when he left San Francisco to a guy from Oakland, CA. So, then I contacted a Mopar Club in San Francisco.

Stuart Harmon, president of the club, suggested that I get in touch with Mopar Alley, a big Mopar Club in San Jose. While checking on their website, I looked at photos of their 2004 rally, and photo 151 of 174 was of a guy standing in front of a red '65 Dodge Coronet 500 with black vinyl top. The line read: "John was able to stop by". I got in touch with the membership director of Mopar Alley, and he told me the name of the guy in the photo.

After talking with the current owner, he sent me the VIN number of his car. We just heard back from Chrysler Historical yesterday...and the car was shipped to Dodge City, Spokane, WA. There is no doubt that this is the car I bought new in '65. BUT......the current owner races the car. His son bought it for Fathers Day in '94, and he turned it into a SS/JA drag racer, running in the low 10s. He races throughout the West.

So, he obviously isn't interested in selling the car. But when he turned it into a racer, he removed the original seats, console, 4-speed, Hurst shifter, steering wheel, console, and tach, and stored them away. Now, he has recently bought two other '65 Coronet 500s. He needs parts to repair some rear quarter panel rust on his car, and he was going to build another car. One of his cars is a 383, the other a 426 Street Wedge. Both run, and both are in good condition, with no rust. He's offered to sell me either of these cars and put the interior stuff from my original car into the one I buy. We don't have a done deal yet, but it's a way that I can get a '65 Coronet...and have the connection with the original car that I am looking for.

I thought you would enjoy the story.

Best Regards,
Chad Parrish
Missoula, MT."

I refurbed it in 1984, and changed it to a dark charcoal gray color outside with light gray velour seats with black leather side panels. The door jams and trunk deck remained the original factory silver color. It had a 383 with a 727 automatic trans and console. It was a beauty and I want to buy it back."

Comments: "My father bought this car new and swapped in the Hemi. It was metalic blue and had "Daffy Dart" painted on the sides and the Mopar hood scoop when he sold it in 1970. He used to race it at Phoenix City Dragway in Alabama in 1969. But when I came, Mom said the car had to go. He has wanted it back all these years. I think it would be a good Father's Day present."

*Update* (January 7, 2004): "I found the guy that bought the Dart - he's the one who bought it from my father and he is in Columbus, Georgia. Turns out he had it from 1971 until about six or seven years ago [when he sold it to a guy in Detroit for $7500]. Not bad - he only paid my dad $500. The guy in Detroit, which is now the third owner, got it all. The motor was still in the car and running. He even DROVE it onto the trailer. [The second owner] couldn't remember the guy's name, just that he had a resto shop in Detroit that did alot of Mopar stuff. Said he only wanted the Hemi. I fear the body may be in "the big junkyard in the sky", but I would love to get it back if it's not."
